INSPIRATION:

THE SMITHS AND MORRISSEY

So the main inspiration for this look was The Smiths and their singer Morrissey. If you don't know who they are let me tell you they were one of the most influential bands in the 80s, they were part of the post punk movement with The Cure and Joy Division among others (they weren't that famous they were like an underground band they never broke in to the mainstream market). So because they appeared in the 80s is not that hard to achieve a look of that decade you just need some fit pants, and oversized t shirt and blazer. But because they are one of my favorite bands I wanted to make a tribute to them.

Ahead you can see some pics of the Smiths and Morrissey and I will post also some tracks, so you could hear what I think are their best tracks.

Hey everyone! I'm sorry for being so abscent but I've been so busy this last month, I didn't thought this semester was going to be so hard and stressful. This week was horrible like really horrible!!! But thank God I had a great weekend and for the moment everything is calmed.

INSPIRATION:

So the main inspiration of this look is Alexander McQueen, fabric workers and punk culture. Punks are kind of the result of the working class, specially in England. They became the prophets of rebellion and unconformity. So I thought the mix between this two elements could turn out great, and that's the reason I used my denim shirt symbolizing the fabric workers and the tartan pants obviously represent punk movement. But there is no better result of this two elements that Alexander McQueen himself. Word on the street say that when he was alive no one could thought he was a designer, he wasn't into glamour or any of that stough, if you crossed him in the street and if you didnt knew who he was you may have thought he was a regular worker. And that's what I found fascinating about McQueen, the product of working class and punk culture create one of the most amazing visionaries of the decade and maybe the century! His work wasn't only fashion, it was pure art! Like his last collection that was inspired by churchs and baroque creating garmets made to be adored! An amusing coincidence was that the wall paper of my grandma's house was very baroque and definetely remember me of McQueen's last collection.

WAZZAP PEOPLE!!!! THIS IS MY FIRST POST OF 2011 AND I'M VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW YEAR AND THE SURPRISES IT WILL BRING ME!
I don't really have any goal to complete this year but I will like to be more dedicated to this blog, I know I don't blog as I used to and when I do it, I just put some pics and nothing more, so I've decided to write a little bit more, talk about my looks, the inspiration behind them or maybe some fashion critics; you know like a real blog!

So let's start!

INSPIRATION

This look was inspired by Spring/Summer 11 Dior's Homme, and Burberry's Prorsum collections.

Personally I love the layering and capes from Dior Homme. To tell you the truth this collection remind me of Jedis, but as the clothes were most of them the right description should be Siths LOL. Not but it really has this oriental vibe (Star Wars's Jedis were inspired by Samurai and other Japanese warriors) and the cape were really beautiful. The collection is really simple and minimalistic and that's why is so effective and beautiful; the beauty of these clothes are geometric and straight lines.
Burberry's collection on the other side is all about leather and rock and roll. This collection is definetely is my favorite one this season. I'm a big fan of the rock star style so you can imagine how happy I was when I saw this clothes. But what makes for me this collection so interesting and beatiful is the contrast between softness and hardness represented in the clothes. The jackets are made with leather and the desing of them, which is btw motorcycle style, symbolize revolution, rawness, rebellion and most of all rock and roll. On the other hand we have the pants and t-shirts which seem being made by cotton, wool and maybe nylon, which are soft materials. So as you see it's really interesting the idea Christopher Bailey had, and how he could mix to opossites in one beautiful show.

Now about my look, I found that these two collection have something in common and for me is that both are dark and kind of goth you know, so I tried to mix them together. So that's why I wear a trench coat under my leather jacket, the trenc coat symbolize the cape and long coat in Dior, while the biker jacket obviously represents Burberry collection. On a extra point I used a hat, a pair of boots and white pants in honor of the Clockwork Orange movie, so this rebellios look could be complete.

Don't you like to make beautiful collages? I don't know what is so cool about them but I just love to make some collages when I'm listening to music or just bored. Maybe they are so cool because they can show how complex our mind and imagination are, but the result is so beautiful and in some way logical.

Collage 1 and Collage 3 were inspired by the epic band CRYSTAL CASTLES! I so obsessed with them, I love how something so chaotic like their music can be at the same time beautiful, is like Mario Bros on crack, non sense make senses and chaos is order, definetely they are my favorite band at the moment. The second collage is obviously inspired by Like a Virgin by Madonna, but let me tell you it wasnt originally inspired by that song. The true inspiration was Britney Spears photoshoot for Pop Magazine. I was thinking for a while in how could I make a tribute to such beatiful photoshoot, after a while I went to an exposition and saw a photo of a little girl dressed all in white like a bride but obviously she wasn't getting married it was her first comunion picture, I was amazed how similar was this photo to the cover of Pop Magazine so I took a pic of this picture and also from a african american marriage (both pics can be seen in the collage) and start thinking what this 3 pictures had in common. So what they have in common was purity and virginity, and what better song could fit this theme??? Yes you guess it right! Like a Virgin from Madonna.

The main inspiration for this outfit was the 90s specially the grunge movement. I've been obsessed with the 90s style for a while, I think the main reason I have this obsession is because I've been watching 90210 Beverly Hills almost all summer! also I've been listening to Nirvana alot. So I decided to make a little tribute to this decade and movement, the main goal was simplicity and I think I achieve it. Anyway I have just one more week of vacation, next Wednesday I will be back to University. To tell you the truth I'm quite excited for this new school year! and I'm already tired of so much laziness, so it's time to study again!

La inspiracion principal para este estilo es los años 90, especialmente el movimiento grunge que se dio en esta decada. He estado obsesionado con los noventa por un buen rato, creo que esto se debe a que me he hecho un fan de la seria 90210 Beverly Hills, la he visto casi todo el verano. Ademas he estado escuchando mucho a Nirvana asi que decidi hacer un pequeño tributo a esta decada y movimiento. La meta era crear algo simple y parece que lo hice. Tambien les cuento que tengo una semana mas de vacaciones, el siguiente Miercoles vuelvo a la Universidad. Para decirles la verdad estoy muy emocionado de volver, ademas ya estoy cansado de tanta vagancia, asi que es hora de volver a estudiar!

Okay so yesterday I finally saw Inception (I know I'm a month late, but it's not my fault, the movie was released last friday in my country I know big bummer) anyway, I loved the movie, the whole idea and concept of dreams is so fascinating and amusing! Most part of the movie I understood it, but there are some scenes that I didn't, anyway it's a fun movie so if you haven't watch it GO to the the closest movie theather and buy ticket and go watch it NOW!

Ayer porfin pude ver Inception o el Origen (yo se que ando un mes de atraso pero no tengo la culpa que la hayan estrenado el viernes anterior en mi pais) para ser sincero ame esta pelicula,la idea de los sueños es fascinante y entretenida! Entendi la mayoria de la pelicula solo hubo unas pocas escenas que en realidad no logre captar muy bien. Asi que si no las has visto hasta ahora, mueve tu trasero al cine mas cercano, compra un tiquete y mirala AHORA MISMO!

So I'm going on a trip this weekend with my family, yey! we are going to a small town in my country called Baños (Which translates as Bathrooms in English, I know weird and kind of ugly name). It real name is Baños de Santa Agua (Bathrooms of Holy Water, I know this is a weirder name), anyway this small town is located in the highlands but it's in fact a tropical forest. The main activities are related to adventure sports, you can do some rafting, or kayaking and stuff like that. I will take some pics so you can see how I spend my weekend.

El nombre real es Baños de Agua Santa (lo sé que este nombre es aun más raro), de todos modos este pequeño pueblo se encuentra en las tierras altas, pero es en realidad un bosque tropical. Las principales actividades están relacionadas con los deportes de aventura, usted puede hacer rafting, o kayak y cosas por ese estilo. There is nothing better than sit down and read a good book in a summer afternoon, I love the sun warming my legs while I drink ice cofee, I love summer and thank God it's back cuz as you know the climate in the world is crazy apparently it's summer but last week it rain so much in my city! I was very mad but know everything it's back in order.
Oh btw I'm reading "In Search of Lost Time" by Marcel Proust, I reading the first part which it name is Swann's Way, I highly recommend this book and the beggining it's a bit confusing but then you just won't stop reading, very addicting book, I hope to end the book by the end of the week so I buy the second part (the book is divided in 7 parts ala Harry Potter).

No hay nada mejor que sentarse a leer un buen libro en una tarde de verano, me encanta el sol que calienta mis piernas mientras bebo café frio, me encanta el verano y gracias a Dios está de vuelta, como usted saben el clima en el mundo está loco, aparentemente es verano, pero la semana pasada llovia tanto en mi ciudad! Yo estaba como loco, pero todo está de nuevo en orden.

Ah por cierto estoy leyendo "En busca del tiempo perdido" de Marcel Proust, Estoy en la primera parte que se llama: El camino de Swann, le recomiendo este libro, el comienzo es un poco confuso, pero despues no dejaras de leerlo , es un libro muy adictivo, espero terminar el libro antes del fin de la semana, para así comprar la segunda parte (el libro está dividido en 7 partes a la Harry Potter).

So I have been thinking a while about getting a motorcycle/punk/rockstat jacket, they have been a trend since when...mmm 2 maybe 3 years ago??? I wanted one of those jackets but was never completely sure to buy it, but after the Burberry SS 2011 show I was decided to get a punk jacket, so I finally have one! it's not made of leather but still it's pretty cool and resembles alot to those. The fabric I 'm not sure how is the name in spanish so sorry I can tell you how it's called sorry.

Así que he estado pensando hace un tiempo en obtener una chaqueta rockstar/punk/motociclista. Estas chaquetas han sido una tendencia desde hace mmm 2 tal vez 3 años??? Quería una de esas chaquetas, pero nunca estuve completamente seguro de comprarla, pero después de la colección SS 2011 de Burberry decidí obtener una chaqueta punk, así que finalmente tengo una! no está hecho de cuero, pero aún así es muy buena y se parece mucho a las ya mencionadas. La tela no estoy seguro de cómo es el nombre lo siento.

La increible y amada chaqueta de rayas blanco con negro de la primavera de este año

I have always love this kind of discoveries, I'm always amazed how fashion uses items from the past, but well this is no surprising everyone knows fashion is like a circle, but still it amaze me. What I found funny is the similarities between the jackets they are identical, I wouldn't be surprised if Riccardo Tisci had an inspiration of the Thin White Duke.

Lately David Bowie has become and obsession to me, so as good obsessed stan I waste hours on Google images, looking for pics of Ziggy Stardust. The moment I found the photo of Bowie rocking that stripes jacket I was in shocked, that jacket seem very similar to me, I have seen it somewhere else, so I start searching on my Google Reader and I found that Andy from Style Scrapbook and Chiara from The Blonde Salad has a very similar jacket and then I realize that the Zara Jacket Andy was rocking was inspired by Givenchy Spring Collection. Finally the riddler had an answer, ok so enough of blah blah and time to see the pics!

Siempre me ha encantado este tipo de descubrimientos, Siempre me sorprende la manera cómo se utiliza elementos del pasado, pero esto no es sorprendente,todos saben la moda es rotatoria, pero aun asi todavía me sorprenden. Lo que me pareció gracioso es que las similitudes entre las chaquetas son idénticas, no me sorprendería que Ricardo Tisci tuvo una inspiración del Duque Blanco.

Últimamente David Bowie se ha convertido en una obsesión para mí, y como un buen fan paso horas en buscador de imágenes de Google en busca de fotos de Ziggy Stardust obviamente . En el momento en que encontré la foto de Bowie luciendo esa chaqueta de rayas yo estaba en shock, esa chaqueta me parecia muy similar , la habia visto en otro lugar, así que empieze a buscar en mi Google Reader y me encontré con que Andy StyleScrapbook y Chiara de Blonde Salad tenian ambas una chaqueta muy similar a la de Bowie y luego me di cuenta de que la chaqueta de Zara que Andy Y Chiara lucian fue inspirada por la coleccion de primavera de Givenchy . Por último, el enigma tenía una respuesta, ok asi que basta de blah, blah,blah y veamos las fotos!

I'm sorry of the lack of post this month, but I'm on vacation until August so I will take time with my blog, anyway I want to show you a project I made. A friend of mine called Mariana Botero is studying fashion design so she had to make a dress inspire in a corals, the dress is made with the bottom of plastic bottles, yeah I know it sounds like a Project Runway contest but that is what her teacher ask anyway, the journal of the University wanted to make an article about this challenge so they asked her if she could take come pics of the dress, so then she asked me to help her and I gladly did!

It's amazing what you can found on vintage store and your relatives closets

So I've been searching a trench coat for years but never found the one, and the few I checked were not that great and overpriced, so me and my sister went to a vintage store and see what treasures we can found there, there were a lot of interesting things and a lot of 80s fashion but sadly most of them were for women, so we were talking and mentioned her that I would love to found a trench coat and how long I've been searching for it, and amazingly she took out a jacket and said look what I just found I couldn't believe and what really amazed me was the price, if you want to know well I will tell you:

Amazing right?

Well then we just walking around the store and found an amazing brown leather jacket, and the price was just $5! I was so happy cuz I never thought I could found such great pieces in less of 20 bucks, if I have bought those on a mall store or boutique for sure I will have spent at least $400

Es increible lo que uno puede encontrar en una tienda vintage o el closet de tus familiares. La historia va de la siguiente manera, he estado buscando por un trench coat por años pero no lo he encontrado y los poco que aparecian no eran nada similares y estaban sobrevalorados, asi que un dia yo y mi hermana decidimos ir a una tienda vintage ya sabes a ver que tesoros podemos encontrar, habia cosas increibles mucha moda ochentera pero la mayoria para mujer, mientras tanto le hablaba a mi hermana cuanto deseaba encontrar un trench y al momento que lo mencionaba ella saca de armador y me dice mira lo que encontre, no podia creerlo porfin! y lo que mas me sorprendio fue el precio:

8 dolares con 65 centavos

Luego seguimos recorriendo la tienda y encontre una chaqueta de cuero cafe, y costaba 5 dolares, no podia creer cuan bien me estaba yendo, y no creia que pude encontrar ambas prendas por menos de 20 dolares, ya saben que si hubiera hecho la misma compra en una boutique la cuenta hubiera salido por lo bajo unos 400 dolares

Now the part about the relatives closet, well I will make this one short, but well the thing is that I was just looking for my parents closet to see what cool retro stuff I can found, sadly most of their old clothes it's gone :( but I found a great coat it like a trenchcoat but it's not exactly one and it's black so it can difference from my trench.

And for last my sister found an old shirt who she thought it was too big for her and give it to me.

En cuanto al closet de parientes, bueno esta vez esta rebuscando en el closet de mis padres haber si encontraba alguna de su ropa vieja lamentablemente la gran mayoria ha sido regalada asi que no encontre mucho pero lo que si encontre fue una chaqueta negra que es como un trench pero en realidad no lo es me encanta!

Y por ultimo mi hermana me regalo una camisa vieja que estaba muy grande para ella

I love love love! Burberry this season, those coats are so damn beautiful, personally I love the second one, and the sweater with golden shoulders.

Am I the only one who feels this is like a male version of Balmain SS 2010???

I mean they are very similar, the colors, the military references etc.

And that makes me so happy cause I love Balmain and finally someone (thanks Christopher!) transfer the trends of a female house to man house. Can't wait till departmenst store take out the inspired pieces, yes Zara and H&M I'm watching you!

Tienen tantas similitudes miren los colores, la influencia miliatar, detalles etc.

This are my favorite pics from the ad campaign, I must say Emma is looking gorgeous, she is so beautiful, who have thought little Hermione will transform in this classy, sexy and inteligent woman.

As for the guys I love everything they are wearing, like everything! The trenchcoat that Max is wearing in the first pic is just a classic I need!, and you can deny the whole look George Craig is using it's just great!

In the second pic you can find my dream look, everything there is perfect, oh I want his jacket!

Apparently I can found them in two places:

1. Disneyland

2. Topman

The problem with Disneyland is that I'm not traveling any time soon and I have to be honest Disney clothes it's kind of big a small size is truly a large size.

And the problem with topman is that the shipping doesn't come to my country :(

Oh well I have to find a friend who is traveling to the US, and asking him for the sweater.

The last option could be searching on Vintage Store but I think it will be hard to find one, but who knows? *fingers crossed*
